Wanted (21-09-10/Watts) Long Term Rental - We are a couple in our 50’s who are looking to settle in the Dordogne. We would like to buy property but not in the very near future, probably in about two years time so are looking for something to rent in the meantime. We are not ready to move yet, probably early 2011 but thought I would put the feelers out now rather than later.

Our requirements are simple – a liveable house with some land, perhaps half an acre but don’t mind if it is more. We have four well behaved dogs, a border collie aged 8, a standard schnauzer aged 6, and two miniature schnauzers which we have adopted aged 3 and 4. All are neutered and fully house trained. We love walking the dogs so would like to be located somewhere we can take them for walks without worrying about sheep, cattle or other livestock which my border collie would like to round up!! A fenced garden is essential. The requirements for the house are very simple, as long as it has a kitchen, bathroom and somewhere to sleep then we are happy. Preferably a log burner for the winter but not essential. We are both very keen gardeners so are happy to keep the garden up together for the owners. We are also both used to the outdoor life, all kinds of animals, we have both worked on farms in the past so if anyone requires house-sitters we would be happy to do it.

If you know of anything which might be suitable for us please let me know. Cost is important, we do not want to spend more than €500 a month on rent as we are looking to buy eventually – if someone had a property which they would rent to us with a view to us buying when we sell our UK home then that would be ideal.
