La
Forge de Frugie – village gite for holiday rental all year round.
La Forge de Frugie is found in the centre
of the village of St Pierre de Frugie but nevertheless private with
its own garden with a view across the valley to the forests.
A holiday
here will give you the genuine French experience.
Saint
Pierre de Frugie is a small medieval village in the Perigord Vert
in the north of the Dordogne and situated in the parc naturel
regional Perigord Limousin.
This gite
is a perfect base to explore the Dordogne, Limousin (border 5
minutes) and the Charente is also reachable easily.
You can
discover goat farms which you may vist and taste there very good cheeses.
You may also find artisans who prepare apple juice and eat crepes. An
Angora goat farm, a fishing farm, a zen temple, eco centre, deer farm, a
pottery studio are all found close to the village. A bar restaurant is
just across the road!
During
the summer months the village holds a large fete which people visit from
miles around and also there are night farmers markets where you can dine
and have fun with the locals.
There is
also a communal lake where you may picnic and a fishing permit may be
obtained. Close to the lake is a visitor centre where you will find
information on all activities in the region including 200 kms of walks.
Saint
Pierre de Frugie is also local to many beautiful chateau.
Within 10
minutes you will find Bussiere Galant where there is a leisure lake
for swimming with a beach area. The leisure area also boasts an acrobois
and a velo rail and paintballing.
The
nearest town is La Coquille, 4 km, where you will find restaurants,
supermarket, doctors, chemist, bank, many shops, post office, boulangerie
and patisserie, hairdressers and a market each Thursday morning. There is
also a train station here or in Bussiere Galant with direct line to
Perigueux/Limoges.
Not far
are the lovely towns of Brantome, Sarlat, St Yrieix la Perche
and the cities of Perigueux and Limoges are approximately 40
minutes. Also worth a visit is Ordour sur Glane where you will
discover a village stood still in time.

Our 4 acre lake is situated in an attractive

The
lake was stocked 3 times during the winter of 2006/2007. In total 50
Carp over 20lb were
introduced, including several 30's and
one fish over 40lb.
The new carp have gained weight rapidly and we now
have several 40's and numerous 30'sand
our carp record is
54lb 4oz
We also have some catfish in the
lake, the biggest is now well over 72lb and we have others not far
behind in weight.
The lake is also home to about 150 Original Carp,
these are mainly double-figure fish with some 20's, but there could be
some surprises.
The facilities at
Sweet Chestnut Lake are excellent and are of course exclusive
to parties that book with us.
We
offer a recently refurbished apartment contained in the main house and
above our own accommodation, right on the edge of the lake. Total
privacy is maintained as access is by way of an external stairway with
small viewing balcony. Decorated to a high standard the self contained
apartment boasts brand new kitchen and bathroom.
The toilet, walk in shower and large wash
basin have just been installed complete with fresh white wall tiles.
There is also a large living/dining area with 3 seater sofa and dining
table with chairs.
Outside the apartment, we provide table,
chairs and parasol, ideal for sitting out and relaxing, and also a new
stone barbeque. Below this accessed by natural steps, on the lakes edge,
is a hard standing which can also be used, you can even fish from
here if you like.
We
provide all the large items of carp fishing equipment, which were
new in 2007, and this is included in our prices.
This makes us very attractive to
customers, who wish to take advantage of the amazing low cost flights by
Ryanair to Limoges.
Our venue is just a leisurely 40 minute
drive away in the beautiful Parc Naturel Regional Perigord-Limousin.
Delicious freshly cooked meals are available
and anglers may decide to book the food package for the week. Meals can
be delivered to your swim or served in the apartment.
We also have a full range of baits
available on site, including........ Loir baits fresh frozen boilies,
pop-ups and dips. High quality pellets, freshly cooked particles and
ground bait.

property is all on one level. The lounge/diner has a comfortable sofa
and chairs. The dining area has a table and chairs sufficient for six
people. The patio doors lead out to the front garden. The whole room is
light and airy with laminated wood flooring. Satellite TV, DVD player. A
selection of books, puzzles and games are there for your pleasure.
For
winter lets the bungalow has gas fired central heating through out.
The
two double bedrooms one with a double and the other with twin beds have
fitted carpets. The separate bathroom and toilet are adjacent.
The fully equipped kitchen has plenty of cupboards and worktops,
including oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble
drier, toaster.
We supply two sets of bed linen, bath and pool towels.
Welcome pack of tea, coffee, ham and cheese, bread and butter + a
bottle of wine for your arrival.
The integral double garage also contains the washing machine and
tumble drier.
The
bungalow is situated within a fenced garden with pebbled patio surround.
Flowerbeds and tubs give a pleasant aspect. To the rear of the property
there is a large covered terrace ideal for alfresco dining. The garden
has a large fig tree offering shade as well as delicious fruit.
The
back garden is laid to lawn and secluded on one side by a large conifer
hedge. The small above ground pool is ideal for those long hot summer
days with sun beds and BBQ supplied.
For the more energetic there are a couple of cycles available.
The Dordogne is famous for its numerous lakes. It’s a
fisherman’s paradise as well as those who like to swim and play about in
lakes and rivers. Canoes can be hired in several locations either by the
hour or for the day if required. Tennis, horse riding, golf and lovely
bike rides or walks are on your door step.
The town of Thiviers has four supermarkets, banks and post
office, in addition to a wide variety of other shops and restaurants. The
extensive market is held every Saturday morning. Thiviers has a
large swimming pool in the picturesque park and close by are several lakes
suitable for swimming. Limoges is famous for its fine china and the
porcelain factory is well worth a visit.
Limoges airport is only 45 minutes away and is well served both
by Ryan air and Flybe.
Périgueuex with its old Roman quarter is a labyrinth of narrow
streets with every conceivable type of shop. Brantome, Sarlat, Bordeaux
and Bergerac are all within an easy drive and well worth exploring.

The
campsite is situated just on the outskirts of the quiant village of
St. Jory de Chalais, just 4 kms off theN21 main road and well within
an easy walking distance. Here you will find the local butcher, Mr.
Deleron,who is a master at home made regional products, noted for
miles around. Jean Jaques, is the local baker and there is a village
"supermarket", where you can buy nearly everything.
The
campsite is an ideal start point for day trips and tours.
Fancy something else? Just ask!
That's what we are here for.
If
you prefer why not spend the day with us on site in the peace and
tranquillity, idle the time away, spotting birds rare in the U.K. or
delight at the butterflies that abound. In the evening there is no
need for a taxi at our campsite, it's just 150 yards back to your
caravan or tent, straight into bed and then ready for another hot
summer day tomorrow.
This
is the campsite fishing lake. It is stocked with lot of different
fish, carp for example. The pond has a diameter of about 50 m. The
best catch up to now is a 10 lbs mirror carp. There is no licence
needed, night fishing is possible and it is free for our campers.
Camping Maisonneuve
is open from 1st of April to the end of October every year which
gives an ideal view of the ever changing Dordogne scenery.

The Farm Cottage has been renovated
retaining its oak beams and original features, it is facing south,
peaceful with wonderful views and with its own gated entrance,

There are many walks and cycling tracks.
Nantheuil which is only 10mins
drive (or a nice bike ride) has a large lake with a sandy shoreline,

Corgnac sur l'isle which takes
about 20mins has a Velo Rail Track, great cycling fun in picturesque
countryside.

The gites are a traditional stone barn conversion, retaining many of the
original features, but including the comfort you would expect from a high
class conversion. Exposed stonework, oak beams, and a wood burning stove rub
shoulders with soft, colourful rugs and tasteful furnishings.
The gites are
wheelchair friendly, all access is ramped, and have a
double en-suite on the ground floor. There are two large bedrooms on the 1st
floor, 1 double and one twin, both of which have en-suite facilities.
The kitchen is fully fitted, with all the usual
equipment. There are laundry facilities available. The lounge and dining
area have double doors leading onto the terrace, which overlook the lawn and
lake, making it the perfect place for breakfast, or a glass of wine. Garden
furniture is provided, we also have a plunge pool. Parking is conveniently
situated at the side of the barn.

stores. From Nontron to the north is the
Perigord VertLimousin where there
are many Lakes and forests.

the town of Nontron, TGV rail services
are available from Angoluême and
Limoges to Paris. FlyBe and Ryan
Air offer direct flights to the Uk and
Ireland from Limoges and

easily accessible via Limoges to the

We would
like to welcome you to Camping la Plage,
an English, family-owned campsite in an unique and tranquil position situated
directly on the River Dordogne in approximately 10 acres of woodland with
private access to the river.
Our central location means easy access to towns like
Sainte-Foy-la-Grande with it's busy market every Saturday morning. The
famous Saint-Emilion wine region with its magnificent monastery and
vineyards is approximately 25-35 minutes away, as is the beautiful town of
Bergerac. Other well known towns such as Duras, Eymet and
Bordeaux are within driving distance.
There are many vineyards which offer wine tasting in the
area, a world ranked 18 hole golf course within 12 kms, an Aquapark, horse
riding, go-karting, bowling, canoeing and lots more just a short distance
away.
If you don't wish to spend
time in the car, we have activities on site which include: swimming pool,
children's play area, basketball, badminton, table tennis. On the river,
canoeing and kayaking are 2 minutes walk over the bridge and fishing is
accessible from the campsite. Also over the bridge is an assortment of
local shops offering everything from fresh bread to postage stamps,
internet cafe and hairdressers.
Activities
on site include: swimming pool (open May - September), children's play
area, badminton, table tennis, basket ball and football area.
On the river, canoeing and kayaking are 2
minutes walk over the bridge and fishing is accessible from the campsite.
Horse riding can also be arranged and is suitable for all levels. The
surrounding area is excellent for cycling and walking.
Our
busy bar and brassiere are open April to October, with themed food nights
and music nights held throughout the summer period, or you could just
relax on our large terrace, eating al fresco and sampling some of the
wines of the region and socialising with the locals. Freshly cooked local
produce suitable for all ages and tastes, vegetarian and children's menu.
Live sporting events are shown on a
large screen television, so you can relax and enjoy your holiday without
missing your favourite sporting events, while the children play in our
enclosed play area adjacent to the brassiere.
If
you wish to relax in the summer sun, an ideal place is our enclosed 17
metre swimming pool, with its decked, grassed terrace area and shade from
the large trees.
Camping la Plage
is open from May 15th to September 15th.
We
have accommodation for 25 tents, caravans or motor caravans with a number
of pitches overlooking the river. All pitches are set under mature trees
which provide excellent shade from the summer sun and have access to water
and electricity points of 10 amps. There is also a BBQ area with beautiful
views over the river.
The toilet block has hot and cold water,
male and female showers and washing facilities. Dishwashing and laundry
sinks are also situated in this area.
The
Hotel de France et de Russie is an elegant former eighteenth
century post-house, built of local Dordogne stone and situated
in the centre of Thiviers, opposite the Town Hall and surrounding
parkland.
The
hotel is a haven of tranquillity, set amidst pretty gardens with terrace
sheltered by fine trees. Private guest parking is available to the rear of
the hotel.
The

secluded, elevated position with panoramic views of the picturesque, undulating

and fishing lake. The lake nestles in a sheltered location, just a short stroll
from the cottage with a swimming and fishing pier. A rowing boat to laze around
in and if you're a sailor you'll have some fun in the Mirror Dinghy.
Our self-catering holiday cottage is located just off a small country road at
the end of the village of St Priest Les Fougères, within a minute's walk
to the village. The village is conveniently located on the D79, just 2.5km from
the main N21 (Route Nationale) at La Coquille, between Limoges and
Périgueux in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of the Périgord-Limousin.
The accommodation is arranged on ground level in the traditional French style of
a centralised kitchen/living area. A back and front door lead to a garden and
to 15 acres of our land. All rooms lead off from the kitchen area. For
practicality and comfort we adapt the furniture arrangements to suite the number
of guests staying.
The cottage sleeps in total 4 adults and 4 children. We adjust
the weekly rental rates according to the number of people, even in the summer
months, making it very economic for smaller groups and couples with a child
wishing to get a break in the peak periods.
The cottage is available for longer
term rentalfrom early autumn,
around October through to
April of the following year. We
offer the longer term rental period for two adults only. Well behaved cats and
dogs are also welcome.

Our village of St Priest Les Fougeres (on the D79) is the highest
village in the Dordogne and is located just 2.5kms from the main RN21 at
La Coquille between Limoges and Perigueux.
Within the immediate vicinity of St Priest Les Fougeres are the
towns of Thiviers, Chalus, St Jean de Cole, Brantome and Jumilhac Le
Grand.
The towns of Perigueux, Limoges, Sarlat, Bergerac, Bordeaux, and the
Lascaux caves at Montignac are all within a comfortable driving
distance.

Our cottage is located in the small hamlet of LA MARCHADERIE, which is a
five-minute drive from the village of ST MATHIEU (60kms SW of LIMOGES)
The cottage has been recently renovated and furnished to accommodate 6 people. It consists of a Kitchen/Dining room, Separate lounge with CD/Radio player and TV, 3
bedrooms (2 double, 1 twin) Bathroom with shower, WC and Vanity unit with hand washbasin. Constant Hot water.
The equipment provided for 6 people includes a washing machine, Fridge/Freezer, Microwave oven plus all the normal cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils. Cooking is by
a 4-burner gas stove and oven.
Bed linen and towels (sorry but no beach towels) are provided and changed weekly.
There is a garden with lawn and flowerbeds together with an outside patio area with garden furniture and Bar-B-Que for alfresco meals.
We can also supply a Baby Cot (with Linen) High Chair and pushchair if required.
Heating if required is supplied by a Gas fire and electric radiators.
LOCATION
The pretty village of ST MATHIEU has a well-stocked supermarket that includes an English food section. It has Banks, Post Office, Bakers and Newagent/Tabac.
Garages for car repairs etc. So is well situated for your day-to-day needs. The village also has 2 Doctors should you need them.
A little further away (30 mins drive) is the Town of ST JUNIEN has the larger supermarkets and shopping precincts.
In our area we have lovely rolling wooded hills with nearby lakes, which provide for swimming, boating and fishing. There are also Riding Stables nearby. The lakes have
beaches for building sandcastles etc. and during the months of July and August have lifeguards on duty. There are plenty of well signposted walks, ranging from a casual
2-hour stroll to a full days exploration of the area. Castles and Caves are nearby waiting to be explored.
There are good restaurants in the area that serve good French
and Local cuisine.
The village of PIEGUT, which has a great weekly market, is only 20 minutes away. The town of BRANTOME (known as the Venice of France) is about
45mins drive.
ANGOULEME is about 1hours drive and from here you can easily catch the TGV to PARIS, LILLE and onwards to the UK via Euro star.
LIMOGES airport is approx 50mins away and is served by the Budget airlines Ryanair and Flybe going to London (Stansted), Liverpool and Southampton.

Saint
Pierre de Frugie is a small medieval village in the Perigord Vert
in the north of the Dordogne and situated in the parc naturel
regional Perigord Limousin. 
During
the summer months the village holds a large fete which people visit from
miles around and also there are night farmers markets where you can dine
and have fun with the locals.
Within 10
minutes you will find Bussiere Galant where there is a leisure lake
for swimming with a beach area. The leisure area also boasts an acrobois
and a velo rail and paintballing.

for 6 people this renovated forge is your holiday home from home.
There
is a large open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area with a huge fire place and
a sofa bed which can sleep two people in comfort. Dining table for six and
a tv (French only).
There
is direct access to the garden and covered terrace with table and chairs
for dining outside during the summer months. 
The
garden is fenced and private.

are two double bedrooms, bathroom with shower and a toilet.

We
offer a recently refurbished apartment contained in the main house and
above our own accommodation, right on the edge of the lake. Total
privacy is maintained as access is by way of an external stairway with
small viewing balcony. Decorated to a high standard the self contained
apartment boasts brand new kitchen and bathroom.
We
provide all the large items of carp fishing equipment, which were
new in 2007, and this is included in our prices.
The
property is all on one level. The lounge/diner has a comfortable sofa
and chairs. The dining area has a table and chairs sufficient for six
people. The patio doors lead out to the front garden. The whole room is
light and airy with laminated wood flooring. Satellite TV, DVD player. A
selection of books, puzzles and games are there for your pleasure.
The
two double bedrooms one with a double and the other with twin beds have
fitted carpets. The separate bathroom and toilet are adjacent.
The
bungalow is situated within a fenced garden with pebbled patio surround.
Flowerbeds and tubs give a pleasant aspect. To the rear of the property
there is a large covered terrace ideal for alfresco dining. The garden
has a large fig tree offering shade as well as delicious fruit.
The
back garden is laid to lawn and secluded on one side by a large conifer
hedge. The small above ground pool is ideal for those long hot summer
days with sun beds and BBQ supplied.
The
campsite is situated just on the outskirts of the quiant village of
St. Jory de Chalais, just 4 kms off theN21 main road and well within
an easy walking distance. Here you will find the local butcher, Mr.
Deleron,who is a master at home made regional products, noted for
miles around. Jean Jaques, is the local baker and there is a village
"supermarket", where you can buy nearly everything.
The
campsite is an ideal start point for day trips and tours.
If
you prefer why not spend the day with us on site in the peace and
tranquillity, idle the time away, spotting birds rare in the U.K. or
delight at the butterflies that abound. In the evening there is no
need for a taxi at our campsite, it's just 150 yards back to your
caravan or tent, straight into bed and then ready for another hot
summer day tomorrow.

busy bar and brassiere are open April to October, with themed food nights
and music nights held throughout the summer period, or you could just
relax on our large terrace, eating al fresco and sampling some of the
wines of the region and socialising with the locals. Freshly cooked local
produce suitable for all ages and tastes, vegetarian and children's menu.
We
have accommodation for 25 tents, caravans or motor caravans with a number
of pitches overlooking the river. All pitches are set under mature trees
which provide excellent shade from the summer sun and have access to water
and electricity points of 10 amps. There is also a BBQ area with beautiful
views over the river.

grounds afford plenty of space for playing outdoor games. There is an
outdoor table tennis table and a small above ground swimming pool, also
